Although an aluminium veranda or garden room requires minimal maintenance, a good cleaning is never out of place. This will ensure that you will still be enjoying that lovely spot in your garden carefree not only now, but also in ten years' time.
Here, we share with you some handy tips to make your veranda or garden room shine from the inside and out in no time!
How often should I clean my veranda?
This is different for everyone, as it depends on the area where you live. Do you live in an urban or industrial area? Then clean your canopy or veranda at least once a quarter. Pollution from exhaust fumes and other unpleasant substances can build up, which is something you want to prevent. Even if you live on the coast, it is advisable to clean your roof or veranda every season.
Do you live in a wooded area or have many trees in your garden? Then gutters generally clog up faster. Check your gutters every month to prevent accumulation and flooding.
The maintenance of aluminium profiles
Cleaning a canopy or veranda can be divided into four tasks, namely the roof, the gutter, the frame and any glass walls. We recommend always working from top to bottom. This will prevent you from having to start again at the halfway point.
Roof maintenance
Always start by cleaning the roof of the canopy or veranda. With a sturdy ladder and a long garden hose, this can be done in no time. Remove loose dirt and leaves and use cleaning shampoo to intensively clean the polycarbonate or glass.
Gutter maintenance
As with the rest of your home, it is important to clear the gutters of your canopy or veranda of leaves, twigs and other debris. Doing this regularly, especially in spring and autumn, will prevent the gutter from clogging and preventing rainwater from draining.
Frame maintenance
The best way to keep the frame of your canopy or porch beautiful is to clean it regularly with lukewarm soapy water. When doing so, be careful not to use products containing ammonia or sodium. Avoid solvents and do not use scouring pads and sandpaper. These can damage the frame.
Maintenance of sliding glass walls
Clean your sliding walls or doors last. For this, use the same product you use to wash your windows.
